Mumbai 2.0: The Floating Airport and the Zero-Energy City
Mumbai 2.0 was a civil-engineering exhibit that imagined a floating airport for the city. It was shown alongside a related display on the zero-energy city.
What is a zero-energy city?
The exhibit defined a zero-energy city (ZEC) as one that cuts its energy demand through efficiency so that what remains can be met with renewable technologies. In principle, such a city would use solar and other renewable sources, aim for zero carbon and zero waste, and still offer a high standard of living with the smallest possible environmental footprint. It would also need to be commercially workable.
Why exhibit it
Student exhibits at Technovanza were meant to make future technologies easier to understand, in line with the festival’s theme of bringing technology to society. Other exhibits included SAE Aero and a dam model.
