Technovanza 2012: A Guide to the VJTI Technical Festival

Technovanza is the annual technical festival of VJTI, an engineering college in Mumbai. This page summarises the 2012 edition as it appears in archived material. It is an informational overview and is not run by the organisers.

Theme

The 2012 festival was built around the idea of taking technology to society. Alongside competitions, it showcased student projects and exhibits meant to explain the science behind emerging technologies. A related initiative called Pratigya traces back to the 2010 edition, when a visit by the former Indian president Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam to the campus in 2009 inspired a resolve to bring engineering closer to ordinary people.

Event families

• Robotics. Autobots brought contests on land, in the air and on water, and the VJTI Robotics Challenge set out a detailed arena and rulebook.
• Coding. Programming contests under I-Code, such as SQL and C your way.
• Management and entrepreneurship. Events such as Adomania and Consultant.
• Mechanical. A new sector called iMech debuted in 2012, along with IC Engine and Contraption.
• Civil. Construction challenges under I-Build.
• Exhibitions. Student work such as Mumbai 2.0, the floating airport and SAE Aero.
