Home Automation

![]() Home automation involves automating the home to increase comfort levels for occupants. This includes intelligent automated or semi automated control of elements which constitute a home to make the occupants happier and healthier. Home automation can be implemented at two levels : small independent units working independently to control daily appliances and a central controlling system (if needed). The division of the control into two such systems ensures that the system keeps on functioning in case of a breakdown of either of the two mechanisms. The independent units constitute of small micro-controller based units controlling the remote controls to appliances or if needed, appliances themselves. The control can be achieved through sensor based systems or a flexible multi purpose remote control common to many such independent units. The centralized system can contain preset settings for all such units and devices to facilitate "mood" control. The common appliances proposed to be controlled by such a system include the Television, Audio Systems, as well as achieving mechanization of curtains, fan and lighting control. The system can be extended to include numerous other devices and also to control an automated security system subject to constraints of resources and time. |
