The event is mainly focused on introducing image processing to beginners as well as testing the skills of experts and promoting use of MATLAB. The event requires user to write a code in a MATLAB to solve the tasks given in problem statement.
Last year, the image processing event (Roll of Die) involved image processing on a dice.
This year, we bring to you the fantasy of processing Cards.

The event will be conducted in three rounds. A team satisfying the qualification criteria for a particular round will be promoted to next round.

1. Round 1:
First round is conducted as elimination round. The contestant will be given a stack of cards. He has to place cards one after the other in front of the webcam and code should accurately identify the colour of each card. Each team will have one minute to do the task. Contestants giving least 20 accurate identifications in one minute will be qualified to next round.
 

2. Round 2:
Second round requires users to accurately identify two important attributes of cards viz. Numerical value, shape. Teams will be given one minute to do the task. The contestant should place the card one by one in front of the webcam. Three teams with maximum accurate identifications will be promoted to next round.

3. Round 3:
Third round tests the skills of contestants.
A random single card will be placed in front of webcam and code has to identify and store its attributes. Then cards will be placed on the arena in form of a 4x4 matrix (i.e. 16 cards arranged in 4 rows and 4 columns) in front of a webcam. One of these sixteen cards contains the previous card. It is required to identify the location of card in matrix. The output generated should just specify the x and y co-ordinates of that particular card.

General rules:

1. The teams must adhere to the spirit of HEALTHY COMPETITION. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team found indulging in misbehaviour.

2. Judges' decision shall be final and binding on all.

3. The organizers reserve the rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.

Competition rules:

1. Teams are required to program their code strictly using MATLAB version 7.7R2008b.

2. For the first and second rounds teams will be strictly given time duration of one minute.

3. For third round team will be given maximum time of duration of maximum 10 sec for scanning first single card and next 60 sec to scan the matrix of cards and generate the output.

Technical specifications:

1. Teams are required to bring the code in a removable drive which then will be executed on our pc.

2. The playing cards will be of standard dimensions i.e. 8.8x5.6 cms.

3. The webcam would be vertically arranged at the height of 70cms from the table.

4. Light conditions would be similar to a 60 watt bulb exactly overhead the table.
