| The marks for each launch will be based upon the following formula: Marks= wing span*(time)*(time)/weight where, wing span is in centimetres time is in seconds weight is in gm • The timing of the best launch of the three trials will be considered for the above formula. |
| Rules |
| • The gliders can be chuck gliders or built up. • The participants will be provided with a catapult. • The teams are expected to design their gliders which suit the catapult dimensions. • The Participants are given the option to build a notch on the fuselage or they can also launch their gliders from the tail depending on the design of their fuselage. • The glider is going to be launched from the first floor(approx ht=15 feet) of a building. • In front of the building is a ground of area 100*80m2. • The teams will be allowed to decide the direction of launch. • A team will consist of minimum two members and a maximum of three members. • The gliders have to be self constructed by the participants. Use of any ready to fly kits is prohibited. • In case after launching, the glider hits a tree only one extra launch will be given. • The materials used for the gliders may be Balsawood, EPP, Depron (polystyrene), Thermocol etc. • The use of any remote control devices like futaba to control the flight control surfaces is prohibited. •The teams should report at 7.45 a.m. on the day of the event and the event starts by sharp 8 a.m. • The event will stretch upto 11am. • Each participant will be allotted a time span in which he/she is expected to report at the launch site. In case of failure to do so they will be disqualified. • On the basis of number of teams the teams will be divided in 2 groups. • Group-A teams will be called on the first day and group B teams will be called on the second day. • Participants will be informed one week before the competition about their placement in the groups. • After the 1st launch, teams will be given 30 mins to prepare for the 2nd launch. Teams can do modifications if required after the 1st launch. • Failing to meet any of the above conditions the participants will not be allowed to compete. **Above rules are subject to change. |
